Emergency

What to do in an emergency.

Short steps for the most common emergencies. In every case, call 911 first and keep yourself safe.

Call 911 first

The national emergency hotline, free from any phone, day and night.

911Tap to call · police, fire, medical

Step by step

Fire

  1. Get everyone out. Leave your belongings behind.
  2. Stay low if there is smoke, and close doors behind you.
  3. Once you are outside, call 911. Say the street and house number.
  4. Never go back inside. Tell the firefighters if anyone is still in.
  5. If your clothes catch fire: stop, drop to the ground and roll.

Flood or heavy rain

  1. Follow the barangay's advisories and leave early if you are told to.
  2. Move people, medicine and documents to a higher floor.
  3. If water is coming in and it is safe to reach, switch off the electricity at the main switch.
  4. Don't walk or drive through floodwater. It can hide open drains and carry disease.
  5. Keep a bag ready: water, medicine, a flashlight, a charged phone and your IDs in a plastic bag.

Evacuation areas: the barangay will publish evacuation areas here (to be supplied).

Medical emergency

  1. Call 911. Say what happened, where you are, and whether the person is awake and breathing.
  2. Stay with the person. Don't move them if they may have hurt their neck or back.
  3. For bleeding, press firmly on the wound with a clean cloth.
  4. Don't give food or drink.
  5. Send someone to the street to guide the responders in.

Crime in progress

  1. Get to a safe place first. Don't confront anyone.
  2. Call 911, then the Barangay Tanod@if (Model.Tanod is not null) { at (02) 8355-8341}.
  3. Remember what you can: what the people looked like, a vehicle, which way they went.
  4. Don't touch anything at the scene until the police arrive.

Lost child

  1. Call the Barangay Tanod@if (Model.Tanod is not null) { at (02) 8355-8341} straight away. Don't wait.
  2. Give the child's name, age, what they were wearing, a recent photo and where they were last seen.
  3. Check the places the child knows. Keep one adult at home in case the child comes back.
  4. If the child is not found quickly, call 911.
